The Capital Municipality team reviews Grameen Yemen Foundation’s experience in empowerment projects in Hodeidah

A team from the Capital Secretariat, headed by the Secretary of the Capital - Head of the Development Team, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, reviewed the experience of the Grameen Yemen Foundation in economic and social empowerment projects in Hodeidah Governorate.

A team from the Capital Secretariat, headed by the Secretary of the Capital - Head of the Development Team, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, reviewed the experience of the Grameen Yemen Foundation in economic and social empowerment projects in Hodeidah Governorate.


The Mayor of the Capital, along with the Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee - Deputy Head of the Development Team, Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, the Secretariat’s Undersecretary for the Financial Sector, Mazen Noman, Agricultural Affairs, Muhammad Saree, Assistant Dr. Abdul-Wahab Sharaf, the Directors of the Social Affairs and Labor Office of the Secretariat, Nasser Al-Kahili, the Agricultural and Fish Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, Abdullah Sharaf, and his deputy, Samir Hamza, learned about the activities and programs of the Grameen Yemen Foundation branch in Al-Zahra District in Hodeidah.


During the visit, with the participation of the Director of Planning at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Amer Al-Hatemi, the Chairman of the General Authority for the Development of Tihama, Ali Hazza, the Secretary-General of the Agricultural Union, Muhammad Al-Qahum, and the Director of Al-Zahra District, Abdul Rahman Al-Rifai, the team inspected the work progress of the health camp center, the provision of services to the categories of poor families benefiting from, and the activities of the Foundation’s branch in Al-Zahra District.


They heard from the Executive Director of the Foundation an explanation about the free health camp, the equipment, the level of turnout, the conduct of inspections, examinations, white water operations, and the distribution of medicines for free.


He touched on the projects implemented by the Foundation in the field of economic and social empowerment of poor families and contributing to improving their standard of living and lifting them out of destitution and poverty by providing loans, services, development programs and continuous community awareness to the target groups through 346 centers in the directorates of Hodeidah Governorate.


During the visit, the Mayor of the Capital and the development team reviewed examples of economic empowerment programs for targeted families implemented by the Foundation in Al-Zahra District and some success stories. They learned about the mechanisms and stages of implementation, impact assessment, and indicators of growth and expansion of the map of development projects and target groups.


Dr. Abbad praised the role played by the Grameen Yemen Foundation in empowering poor families and improving livelihoods, by providing loans and development services to target groups in Al-Zahra District in Hodeidah Governorate.


He stressed the readiness of the Municipality of the Capital to cooperate and partner with the Foundation in implementing economic and social empowerment programs and to transfer its pioneering experience to the Municipality of the Capital, in a way that contributes to achieving an integrated and sustainable impact on society.


The Mayor of the Capital pointed out the importance of the visit in creating an effective partnership with the leading and development institution, benefiting from its experience and expertise, and coordinating to develop a practical mechanism for implementation paths, priorities, and required needs.


The coordinator of the Bonyan Development Foundation in the secretariat, Abdul Hafeez Hisn, and the head of the Al-Zahra Cooperative Society, Qadi Hazza, participated in the visit.
