Today, Acting Prime Minister Muhammad Muftah inaugurated the "Yemen's Goods" Festival in its second season, which is organized by the local council in the capital secretariat, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, through the Office of Agriculture and the Unit for Financing Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives in the secretariat.
The festival, which lasts from the fourth to the eighth of this month of October, aims to enhance the status, quality and value of agricultural products locally and globally, contribute to their marketing, support and encourage farmers, sellers, marketers and agricultural and export institutions, highlight the quality of Yemeni agricultural products, enhance their competitiveness and open broader horizons for marketing, investment and export.
The scholar Muftah toured the pavilions of the exhibition, which includes examples of Yemen’s agricultural bounties of fruits, specifically grapes, pomegranates, apples and dates, in addition to the productive families pavilion.
The Acting Prime Minister pointed out the importance of holding these introductory and marketing festivals that highlight some of Yemen's agricultural bounties, stressing the government's keenness to encourage such events and activities and expand their establishment.
He expressed his satisfaction with the qualitative development he witnessed at the festival compared to the previous season, as a result of the abundance of products, quality and packaging, the expertise of producers, manufacturers and marketers, and modern mechanization in local manufacturing.
He praised the level of arrangement and organization of the festival, which helps to develop and improve the quality of local products in general, expressing the hope of achieving a qualitative leap in the advancement of agricultural products in the coming years.
The scholar Muftah noted the role of farmers who adhere to sound agricultural practices and quality standards that contribute to improving the quality and taste of products and thus enhance their competitiveness in local and foreign markets.
He directed the concerned authorities in the capital secretariat, the governorates, the ministries of administration and local and rural development, agriculture, fisheries and water resources, economy, industry and investment, social affairs and labor, and other concerned authorities, to support producers, including farmers, manufacturers and marketers, to improve national products and move towards self-sufficiency in various products, whether agricultural or industrial.
Muftah urged the media to reflect these successes and spread awareness of various agricultural issues, most notably interest in home farming, mechanization and industrialization, to bring about a shift in these products and bring them to self-sufficiency.
While the Secretary of the Capital, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, indicated that the Yemen Bounties Festival aims to enhance the geographical and historical status of the quality of fruits and enhance their competitiveness locally and abroad.
He stressed the keenness of the Municipality of the Capital, represented by the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to support and encourage agricultural products and the level of competitive agricultural production, as well as projects related to agriculture, national industry, and productive families.
At the opening of the festival, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Administration and Local and Rural Development, Nasser Al-Mihdhar, Youth and Sports, Nabih Nasser, the Secretary-General of the Secretariat, Amin Jamaan, the First Undersecretary of the Secretariat, Khaled Al-Madani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for the Marketing Sector, Mohsen Atef, and the Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Samir Al-Hanani, the Acting Prime Minister listened to an explanation from those in charge of the festival about its activities, goals, and programs.
The Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, Engineer Abdul-Malik Al-Ansi, and the Chairman of the Festival’s Preparatory Committee - the Agricultural Sector Officer at the Secretariat, Engineer Muhammad Hajar, explained that the Yemen Khairat Festival, in its second season, seeks to enhance support and encourage the marketing of the local product, support farmers, sellers, marketers, agricultural and exporting institutions, and highlight the quality of the local product.
They pointed out that the festival aims to enhance coordination between farmers, marketers and agricultural associations to market and sell agricultural products in an optimal manner, as it includes exhibitions of agricultural products, pavilions for exporters, marketers, associations and farmers, as well as for productive families, small and micro-enterprises and economic empowerment, and others for mechanization and service providers.
Al-Ansi and Hajar stated that the festival will witness seminars and scientific workshops discussing scientific research in the agricultural sector, with wide participation from government agencies, the private sector and agricultural cooperative societies, as it is an agricultural and development event that opens new horizons for investment and agricultural export.
